Hello Pro Edge Athletes, here are a few simple tips that every D man should practice before each Game. Make it a routine so it becomes as instinctual on the ice as off.
Carry in your hockey bag a golf ball... find some room and add a Pivoting, forward to back transition movement to your pre-game warm up. The game of hockey is played in all directions and by warming up movements that you will use in a game it allows your body and mind to react quickly to muscle movements. Pivot both to your right, and then left to mimic escape moves when the forward pressures you.
Keep your head up and control the golf ball while stickhandling throughout the drill. A proper warm-up is pivotal to proper game preparation as you continue to move into higher levels of hockey.
Good Luck and I will see you in August at the Pro Edge Defenceman Camp.
